Yeah so, someone just straight up posted child porn on Lemmy Shitposts. Jesus christ this is getting out of hand.
Sick fucking bastards

Note: Lemmy.world is NOT “lemmy”. Why do you even say this:
Then get off lemmy.world and be the change you want to see. No one’s keeping you here, and if you’re salty about instances that defederate, lemmy.world isn’t the right choice for you anyway, because lemmy.world has easily defederated from several instances, and will again if it suits the admins to do so. It’s their right: they are hosting the instance. Why should they change for you, when there’s a whole fediverse out there for you to land in, even the instance you could build yourself?
For myself I’m glad lemmy.world has made the decisions it has made regarding federation and defederating, I think it is very well run, and I’m happy here. When I’m not, I’ll see what I can fix, or leave. No one’s going to do it for me, and I wouldn’t want them to. Why are you wanting them to do it for you?
Your viewing and commenting being “disjointed” is because you have not bothered to look farther than lemmy.world for a home instance that suits your needs. Try Unilem, which has a specific policy about not defederating with anyone, or some other instance as your home base that has policies you like better than lemmy.world.
Jesus. Why are you complaining about lemmy growing as a whole, when your specific problem is limited to one instance?
And for the record, creating and using accounts on more than one instance does just that: grows lemmy as a whole. It’s clear you find it an annoyance, but for myself I don’t mind, not least because it does actively grow lemmy as a whole and not just the lemmy.world instance.
You’re not on Reddit anymore. That excuse no longer holds. Your own choices are creating the lemmy experience you are having. So get off your ass and do the work to make your experience better. Go look at some other instances and their policies to see what instance is better match for you, because lemmy.world ain’t it, and you whining about how shitty it is here isn’t making it better for anyone.
I have no idea what will make you happy. Only you do. So stop pissing in other people’s Wheaties and find or make something that works for YOU.
TL;DR: It’s easier to put on slippers than to carpet the whole world.
Holy fuck dude. How hard is it to understand that having one big lemmy instance and nothing else is just Reddit with extra steps. And if that instance just bans the other instance that compete with it, it’s just cementing it’s position.
If a community with only a couple thousand members sees a ban, 99% of its potential growth is killed the moment it loses exposure to the millions of Lemmy world users.
Right now, the admins of this instance choose which instance grow along side them. Their decisions should be critiqued when it’s the wrong one.
They don’t need your worship. The users create the content, they just picked a catchy name and got lucky enough to have their instance be the first in the list on the lemmy website when the migration happened.
Defederation coming from lemmy.world should be seen way more seriously and only done for the right reason, stop accepting it blindly as if you are twelve and the admin is your dad.
And again it’s not about me and switching instances. It’s solely about the exposure and force this place has now, and how it’s already being abused. There’s no just hoping on other instance and doing without when it has 1000x more members.
I’m one user, I’m trying to help Lemmy grow but all I have is an eye dropper to water the plant. Meanwhile, lemmy.world admins block out the sun when it doesn’t like a plant.
Obviously there’s something to be salty about. Your argument basically revolves around “if you don’t like, leave” which usually points to a problem actually being there anyways. I’m not here to argue, it’s just annoying when you affirmed you understand the salt but there’s no place for it because people can just leave. It’s a lot more complicated than that.
You need to see this. This “Instances” link is at the bottom right of every lemmy.world page. Scroll to the bottom to see all of lemmy.world’s defederated instances.
As of yesterday when I looked, lemmy.world has defederated 53 instances. Not one or two or three, not a dozen, fifty-three.
Lemmy.world also has more members than any other instance.
And here you are, still screeching into the wind about how lemmy.world blocks other instances, when you yourself could be the change you want to see, in multiple ways.
You could help another instance grow, you could shrink lemmy.world by one, AND you could have all the federation you want.
It’s not that I don’t understand. I understand perfectly. And the first thing I understand is that lemmy.world is not going to change for you, which makes every word you wrote and every iota of concern you put into them completely wasted.
And this is where I bow out. The clouds await your further yell. Bless.
I keep saying it’s not about me as a user but about the admins of lemmy.world blocking out the sun for arbitrary reasons. I don’t even think you are reading any of my comments.
“Just grow your own food” he says as he watches and cheers as his boss stomps on the food I’m trying to grow
