minus-squarejlow (he/him)linkfedilinkEnglish19•2 months agoAre there non-circular cylinders or what does that even mean.
minus-square@pearsaltchocolatebar@discuss.onlinelinkfedilinkEnglish7•2 months agoMaybe they meant prism, since a cylinder is technically one.
minus-squareAggressivelyPassivelinkfedilinkEnglish2•2 months agoNow, how exactly is a penguin toroidal?
minus-square@letsgo@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglish3•2 months agoIt has a single hole through its body from its mouth to its arsehole. IANAB but I think all other holes have at least a membrane between one end and the other. So it’s topologically equivalent to a teacup and a torus.
minus-squareAggressivelyPassivelinkfedilinkEnglish2•2 months agoMaybe having halfspheres at the top and bottom? So more like a gas tank, less like a piece of sausage.
minus-square@sqw@lemmy.sdf.orglinkfedilinkEnglish1•2 months agoonly thing i can figure is maybe technically you could call an ellipsoidal prism a cylinder also? seems like a stretch.
minus-squarejlow (he/him)linkfedilinkEnglish1•2 months agoYeah, I also thought that there might be a cylinder based on a ellipse. Not very common but possible

Maybe what they’re trying to describe is a torus
No they’d only model a bull as a torus.

Imagine a donut-shaped penguin, love it! 😸
