One of the downsides to being the main poster on !ebookdeals@literature.cafe is that I tend to buy everything I deem worthy to post. So I got quite a few deeply discounted ones in the weeks leading up. Beyond that, I got some great T. Kingfisher books, Jim Butcher’s newest in the Cinder Spires, John Scalzi’s Starter Villain, and the Discworld Humble Bundle.
If you enjoyed Kaiju Preservation Society you will enjoy Starter Villain. They feel similar in that they don’t deal with anything too heavy hitting for sci-fi and are more fun in a sci-fi/fantasy-style setting. They are a good refresher.
I’ve read an eclectic grouping of his books, and I will add both Kaiju Preservation Society/Starter Villain. The last two of his I remember reading are The Collapsing Empire and Redshirts, and I loved both.

Wait, what’s the downside? ;D
Oh, how is it? I really like Scalzi.
