Idk how many times the conservatives need to tell you they hate both liberals and socialists while expanding the power of the state to control people’s daily lives while also making the heirarchy above the law before you figure out that they aren’t liberals anymore. Like sure, an American conservative should be a liberal, but they’re not.

They’re something that loves heirarchy, hates liberals and socialists, and constantly strives to scapegoat the “other.”

I wonder what the name for that is.

TL;DR liberalism ≠ neo/classical liberalism. The former is a foundational political philosophy, the latter political ideologies.

“Liberal” and liberalism are not on speaking terms. Neo and classical “liberalism” is a socio-economic model that pays lip service to the philosophy of liberalism.

They are in essence standalone ideologies designed to uphold the nation state and capitalism, painstakingly designed by a bunch of lords and sirs (classical) and modern oligarchs (neo).

In effect they want the nuclear family (2 parents and 2.5 kids, or whatever the hell the current government mandated baby quota is), unrealistic growth, to uphold nepotism, to consolidate global markets and to subjugate citizens as “consumers”.

It’s basically just a political delusion contrived by greedy, narcissistic, degenerates to keep money and power flowing their way.

Doesn’t sound like they are very liberalistic at all, but they co-opt that name, as well as “individualism” (i.e economic isolation, again: the “nuclear family”).

As a side note, when right wingers harp on about “the traditional family”, they really mean the nuclear family, minus LGBTQ as well as brown and black people. The traditional family is collectivist. But that’s not what they really want.
