    That’s a good point. An expensive qb coach but hey if he can turn Zach around… I’m not a Jets fan either. Just here for the chaos.

      • Maybe the NFL is different from the NHL, but players on LTIR in the NHL don’t count towards the cap. I have to imagine there’s something similar in the NFL.

          Nope. Anything you pay (except one year veteran minimum deals that get an exception to be counted at a slightly lower number) hits the cap.

          You can manipulate timing with contract structure, but there is no way to pay a player without it counting to the salary cap

            There is always the Don Muhlbach option. Rodgers retires, it lowers the cap hit to just this year for a prorated amount, they get to re-sign him as a coach/assistant, and they might get a compensatory pick out of it.
