I feel like being competent in electronics can be so aggravating depending on how people treat you. I don’t even want to think about those giant tv/dvd/multi-disc changer set-ups with sound systems people had. Rip.

Hey!
I’m new to piefed. I was a part of the Reddit migration originally. Since then, I really enjoyed the conversations.
I’m a behavior therapist by day. Otherwise a bit of an introvert/gamer. I’m always up for a conversation. Unless I’m asleep, which is earlier and earlier these days.

Casual Conversation@piefed.social•Weekly thread - How is your week going?English
1·4 hours agoSorry you’re going through all that. Would a low impact exercise provide the same rush? I know runners high is a thing. I’m not sure swimming would do it for you. Rock climbing is a little more intense… but you can take it at your own pace and it feels really good (while you’re doing it). So if you get halfway and your leg starts doin a jig you can drop off, etc, without losing your work out.

1·4 hours agoIcky. Looking for a new job. Being harassed by a bully underlying who has created a hostile work environment because I hold her to her assigned tasks. The hours are really good though. So I wish it hadn’t come to this, especially around this time of year. I’m tired.
Behavior support following the holiday? Yeah I’m calling out Monday.
And I can’t even tell if it’s because printers have gotten worse or millennials are just the IT department forever.

Games@lemmy.world•Epic boss Tim Sweeney thinks stores like Steam should stop labelling games as being made with AI: 'It makes no sense,' he says, because 'AI will be involved in nearly all future productionEnglish
1·6 hours agoI don’t care if it is seamless…I want to play games and enjoy art made by human brains. Because to me it’s the closest we can get to being in someone else’s experience of a thing. And yeah we still go through our own filter but this game…or song or painting is someone else’s brain creating and I’m just walking through their vision of the world.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there a word for when someone is not capable of, or doesn't try to understand verbal communication in a language they are fluent in, similar to functionally illiterate, but for speech?English
2·20 hours agoNot capable at all would be non-verbal. This includes vocal and non-vocal verbal communication such as PECs and sign. Non-vocal is not speaking out loud. Able to speak but not doing so may be called selectively verbal.
Not trying at all could have several outcomes and reasons behavioral and medical and would not be any of these. They may not learn to read so lack literacy or may not learn properly how to speak and lack fluency in their first language.
Edit: upon reading some of your other comments, you may be thinking of delays in receptive and expressive language. Which can have many causes.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's an unscientific opinion that you firmly hold?English
2·2 days agoTbh that sounds pretty darn good.
Personally, I prefer wry humor. It’s sort of difficult to encounter in the wild while staying wholesome. Nothing dark and twisted for the sake of it, but wit is somehow comforting in the right place. And clever is so engaging…

2·2 days agoSo the kind of upset stomach I’m thinking about is like stomach flu. I know you’re not supposed to have acidic or junky things when you’re so sick you can barely crawl, not sure why it’s the only thing I can tolerate when I’m sick. Hence I felt it was a pretty good answer. :p

8·2 days agoThanks for pointing that out. I lost about 30lbs and my face kinda took on some of those qualities. Especially the prominent bone thing and sunken eyes.

31·2 days agoI have reached the stage where I will wear crocs. Human services helps/my feet hurt/ they are universally accepted.
But I refuse to accept they are a premium piece of footwear. They have become so insanely overpriced for what they are (in general)I have found myself buying knockoff crocs…

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why are the *you are the problem* comments so common on Lemmy?English
11·2 days agoWhen I see this kind of thing I lean towards communication skills, emotional immaturity, and impulsivity enabled by just sitting behind a screen rather than being face-to-face with someone.
I’ve seen some Reddit-like behavior here, but thankfully not very much, and I personally don’t engage/respond.
Living the dream implies internal screaming I feel. Maybe it’s just me.

Oh yeah…I forgot about the basket of remotes.
