It looks like DeltaChat is a differemt email domain than Arcane. I am not sure if Delta has multiple or if it always the same one though. I do believ you can bring your own email. It just is nice that it does this in my case to onboard less tech savvy family and friends.

I use a fork of the DeltaChat client called ArcaneChat. I like it. It is easy to setup and to get others into a chat. You just provide a name on startup and it automatically creates an arcane email account for you. Moving it to a second device is as easy as using the app to pull up a QR code or getting a code it produces. Making chats with other people is similar. You can scan a QR code or send an invite link.
Also has plugins. I have a chat with an editor app so everyone in my household can add to the grocery list for instance. But there are plugins for games, rss feeds, and bridges to other platforms though I havent used these so im not sure how well they work.
My complaint and the others in my household is notifications. You might send or receive a message but wont get notified until an hour or two later. That said the very latest arcane chat does add a new setting that is supposed to help with that but i havent been on it lomg enough yet.
Also, to my knowledge you cannot lock the app itself like Signal can.
I am fairly certain you do not need to provide an email address. It creates one for you automatically. At least that is how ArcaneChat (a fork of DeltaChat) works.
ArcaneChat also supports multile profiles and it looks like thay feature has made its way into Delta now.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•"Flushable wipes"; "dishwasher-safe"; "odourless" - What are some other blatant lies that companies get away with?
2·2 months agoI personally have never printed TPU but from my understanding it is similar. I will say it is possible to probably get the structure of a PHA print rigid as long as a part doesn’t have super thin walls.
I haven’t made a significant amount of prints with PHA but from what I’ve seen a side that is walls/perimeters only is still very bendy while walls with some infill actually locks up into a more rigid structure better. Also, it isn’t brittle and is quite a bit tougher, and is much more temp stable (I usually see claims it softens around 110C)
There is a PHA specific subreddit (I know, I know).
Edit: apparently my stuff is specifically flex PHA. PHA properties depend on a variety of factors such as the bacteria’s diet. So other PHAs may be stiffer.

2·2 months agoPHA (Polyhydroxyalkanoates) is a truly biodegradable plastic (ASTM D6691Marine Biodegradable). Some bacteria naturally make it. The stuff I have is very bendy/rubbery so its not really a PLA alternative plastic though if you need something stiff/hard.
Another plus is that it doesn’t need a heated bed so it uses less electricity to print with.

12·4 months agoIt’s the thorn character

Bonus: In printing, the Y character was often used as a stand in instead of creating a dedicated thorn printing plate. So places named ‘Ye Old Shoppe’ the ‘Ye’ is actually ‘The’
To clarify things. Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code are two different things. Visual Studio is a full blown IDE intended to be run on Windows. Visual Studio Code is a glorified text editor out of the box that has plugins that help with coding in other languages like C#. On Linux you will want VS Code.

Technology@beehaw.org•What's the REAL minimum power supply needed for a RTX 5060 Ti?
1·7 months agoThat’s how it used to work, but modern GPUs pretty much auto-overclock based on their assigned power target. Undervolting traditionally would mean less power at the same clock. But modern GPUs would just see more power available in the budget to boost clocks further instead. At least in most cases. If you go extreme enough on the undervolting it may hit a point where it won’t boost clocks anymore and actually start reducing power consumption.

7·1 year agoMull is no longer being maintained. IronFox seems to be the go to for mobile now and is what I use. I don’t use syncing so I can’t say for sure, but it does appear to have a sync setup in its settings.
I thought the same for the longest time. I blame playing tons of runescape as a kid.
I am an American so mold spelling is definitely what I ran into when referring to the fungus. Runescape is British English, so you used moulds all the time in crafting.

910·1 year agoI’ve always heard it described as Minecraft meets Primitive Technology. I would say that is quite accurate. Maybe some (optional) Don’t Starve like elements where you have to worry about the temporal rift (sort of like insanity) and drifters (largely at night).
Technology progression is much slower than Minecraft. Also much more involved. Want a stone axe? You have to place a stone on the ground and use another stone to knap it into shape first. Make an iron shovel? You have to heat up the ingot first and then beat it into shape on an anvil. If you are too slow and it cools down you have to heat it up again.
Farming has 3 nutrient groups, so fertilizers and crop rotation is important.
Leather making is a multi step process of soaking hides in various liquids.
It has a built in and very extensive guide/wiki. It also has a native Linux build.
