While it’s a strong combo, in practice it’s just a more clunky version of what a lot of other frames can already accomplish with subsumed Roar and their own abilities. An unmoddable 25sec of downtime that can only be reduced by killing 25 things without your strongest buff active is not very impressive.

Dagath had the misfortune of being a cone-shaped AoE nuke frame that released right after the strongest (also cone-shaped) AoE nuke frame in the game. In a world without Kullervo in it, Dagath would be a strong contended for the top spot in terms of nuking potential, at least until Dante’s release. Sadly for her, this isn’t the world we live in. As it stands, I don’t see a reason to use her over Kullervo or Dante other than for her spooky theme.

  • Here he is! My personal pick for current strongest frame in the game! I was honestly a bit torn between him and Dante, but I think I would put Kullervo ever so slightly higher, his scaling coming from weapons makes him far more resilient to power creep and his single target damage is insane, Dante suffers a bit on that front.
Needles to say, this frame is crazy. Insane levels of damage, shared between as many enemies as you can Collective Curse, nearly immortal thanks to on-demand overguard, free combo counter generator build in to make his heavy attack numbers even sillier and a mobility tool that makes Ash jealous (poor Teleport crying in the corner). This frame, along with Zephyr, are your easiest entry points into Steel Path. If you like guns, pick Zephyr. If you prefer melee, Kullervo is your man. Both of them require just a decent weapon modded for their respective strengths to dominate Steel Path enemies with absolute ease. Just like Zephyr, you don’t even need any mods on Kullervo himself to easily stomp your way through any mission. No matter if it’s a boss or a horde of troops, he carves his way right through them all the same.

  • The main thing that makes Wisp such a good support frame is her sheer convenience and low maintenance. Support is a very unpopular and underplayed role in Warframe and for a good reason. All the good top end frames are entirely self sufficient, requiring no external aid to easily dominate. Wisp breaks the mold by providing generally useful buffs that apply to you AND your teammates while requiring no work from the player on top of having a solid CC/damage ability and a free subsume slot. A 400% power strength Wisp with Pillage makes for an incredibly nasty weapons platform frame while also helping out teammates with her Motes. She can support her teammates without needing to work for it all while being capable of doing the mission by herself if need be.

The second best support frame in the game, only beat by Wisp due to the sheer convenience of her Motes. While her abilities require her to do far more than just “press 1 and enjoy buffs” to get their payoff, the reward is well worth it! This frame takes Gara’s best abilities and makes them even better! Team-wide 90% DR with none of the annoying maintenance associated with Splinter Storm. Crystallize is Mass Vitrify but in a cone and much much faster, while giving everyone capable of aiming red crits with any weapon. More of a status person than a crit one? Prismatic Gem has you covered, all enemies now come pre-primed while your weapons get bonus status chance and duration! And her Fractured Blast provides both health orbs to fuel her passive and energy orbs to keep her energy economy going. With Equilibrium on you can forgo efficiency completely and not care one bit. If this frame wasn’t locked behind such an annoying farm I imagine she would be way more popular, it’s the one bad thing about her.

I know I said last week that the upcoming frames are all powerhouses…here we have an exception. She’s not bad and you can make her work, even if some of her abilities feel really clunky to use, but she gets completely overshadowed by all the frames that follow her. I might be a bit biased against her as she is a melee frame and I really don’t like melee much in Warframe, but I don’t think I’m being that unfair when in 2 weeks we will discuss arguably the most powerful frame in the game right now.

As we approach the more recent frames, most of these are going to be absolute monsters. Styanax is no exception. This guy’s got it all and then some! Near unlimited energy for you and your team? Check! Full armor strip on demand with no prerequisites? Check! A huge AoE nuke that deals Slash procs on every hit and provides you and your entire team 30k Overguard? Check! This frame is insanely powerful and I’m constantly surprised to never see anyone play him despite DE handing him out multiple times for free with a potato included.

I remember this frame being insane on release to the point her rapid damage ticks crashed the game for some people. Then she got “fixed” which also nerfed her to the point of irrelevancy. I never seen much of her since then. I never played her much myself, especially post her changes, did this frame ever get her teeth back or is she still just a worse Volt?

Oh Caliban! A frame so bad, so forgotten DE literally has to give him away to everyone upon his rework just so people actually get to experience the thing. I hope Pablo is cooking cause this guy needs a full course meal! With a single redeemable ability rendered obsolete by the armor/damage type rework Caliban has nothing going on for him. Add to that the abysmal acquisition with timegated droptables and high-end Railjack resources required to build him and it’s no wonder the poor guy is completely forgotten. This guy is in a state as dire as old Hydroid was. Here’s hoping his rework turns out as good as that one did!

Merulina works the same way Rhino’s Iron Skin and Nezha’s Warding Halo work, during the 4sec invincibility period after casting all damage you take adds to it’s HP pool. Even with no HP absorbed, getting an extra 10-15k effective HP (depending on power strength) for 25 energy with a guaranteed 4sec of invulnerability is nothing to sneeze at! As always, the best defense is not getting hit, and not being bound to clunky K-drive controls thanks to Royal Merulina helps a lot with that.

Yareli really went from rags to riches since her release! Changes to her 4 and her new augment, Loyal Merulina, contributed the most to making her into a really good generalist frame. That augment alone just does so much for her. No longer are you bound to the clunky K-drive movement, but on top of that you also get 5 sec of invincibility whenever you cast this ability. And you can recast it as often as you want! It also lets you use subsumes on her 3, before it was very clunky to do so as you couldn’t use them while riding Merulina. On top of all that, it even shoots out Sea Snares for you! She’s up there now with the likes of Nezha, Rhino, Revenant, etc. as a solid good-at-everything kind of frame. She’s got the damage buffs, grouping abilities that act as a low level nuke and a very solid survivability ability. Give this frame a go again if you only remember her release state!

This looks much better than the last trailer, I appreciate how so many of the animations are clearly inspired by the janky but charming original ones. My biggest complaint from the Teaser was the overly talkative player character. Don’t turn the Nameless Hero into your bog standard “must comment on literally everything that happens” character so many modern games have.
