Oooo, crossfade, nice. Not many music players have/support this, and it’s an essential feature for me.

I’ve been wanting to get around to organizing my music and setup mpd, and this seems like a great way to practice. I’m still in a weird phase of using command-line tools and a window manager, but still relying on GUI applications like Dolphin (file manager).

This is how to trim a curve on a point in FreeCAD. Honestly hilarious. Tried using it recently, and I couldn’t follow a basic tutorial without it breaking. This is a recent fair review of FreeCAD, and it still needs a lot of work even after its 1.0 release before it is worth using. I’m considering going back to OpenSCAD for a simple project, and then I will try using build123d in python (CadQuery is a more user-friendly alternative, at least as far as I am told).

I run udisksctl unmount -b /dev/sdX# in the terminal. When it completes, it means the files have finished copying and the partition was unmounted.

I believe the Linux infrastructure for mobile devices needs priority.

Not sure if debugging and fixing issues would satisfy your itch, but I guess one idea to consider is porting some Linux applications only available on the x86_64 architecture to arm/arm64/etc., and develop mobile friendly guis for current applications that are still primarily suited for desktop.

Creating a mesh would make sense in your instance. I recommend following this video.

I was able to get some Linksys E8450 routers for cheap (~$40 each) on eBay a couple years ago, but they are more expensive atm (but $70 each, which is cheaper than a lot of other options). They require a bit of work to get OpenWRT installed, but it’s not bad once the work is done (I have received nearly 400 Mb/s when I am close to the wireless connection sometimes, which is what my internet is capped at). I have used them as a mesh with one as a main gateway and the rest as access points with additional Ethernet ports. They do have the OKD issue fixed now, too, and they’re also Wi-Fi 6. I’m looking into getting a Banana Pi BPI-R3 or R4, though I am not sure how well they are with mesh specifically, but have seen a few forum threads of people having some issues with mesh on these specific routers. I hope to switch to fast roaming (wired backhaul) eventually.

You can make a difference running in local elections (mentioned in the video), but you still don’t have to run under the democrat party. The Squad were not running for President, and they still were co-opted into betraying the working class. Look at AOC.

You are not going to be making Democrats shake in their boots if you play by their rules in their party. We have to organize as a working class. Elections are just the best time to get people involved as more people are paying attention to politics. Voting isn’t going to do anything anyway, especially this election. We need to build a working class party, like PSL, for example, to bring class consciousness to the working class in order to be able to make effective change in the long term. We have been playing the bourgeoisie’s game for so long, and these liberal elections are rigged against us. Help in mutual aid, attend party events, unionize your workplace, protest against transphobic bills being passed in your state…there’s a lot more meaningful work to do right now no matter this election’s outcome. We need to be organizing as the working class regardless if Biden or Trump is in office if we want to have a chance for humanity to overcome potential extinction. It’s going to be a rough road ahead anyway, so be prepared.

Not voting for Biden and supporting a working class party actually puts pressure on the democrats and ruling class. Regardless if you vote Biden, Trump, or any other ruling class candidate, you are still going to be in the same shitstorm as we are in now. You don’t have to concede to the ruling class. Remember, they have to earn your vote. They are not entitled to it.

Voting for Biden is voting for a Zionist Fascist enacting Trump’s policies to a greater degree. Did you even watch the video?

Ok, there’s one problem, which democrat running for office is even anti-war/anti-imperialist/anti-zionist? We saw what happened with Bernie. We saw how the Squad became tools of the democrats. PSL even endorsed Bernie as it would have helped revolutionary cause down the line, which unfortunately the ruling class realized this and did all they could to make Bernie lose. So what are we left with? Fascists and fascists enablers which support and are supported by the ruling class. The video even mentions this.

I will be honest, I haven’t came around to using XMPP myself yet, but I am pretty sure you are able to do all of those things, at least with the help of extensions. Here’s the XMPP standards that are currently stable or experimental:

Looking at clients, I see various ones that have at least some of the features you are looking for (especially file and image sharing, I haven’t found a client that has explicitly implemented the stickers specification yet, but Movim seems to have them):

I would give it some more time. It seems those features are in development, but this is essentially an alternative to Matrix that is more standardized. It’s a widely adopted and integrated protocol, so I don’t doubt the features you are looking for will become more fleshed out some day.

That’s like saying you can use email if you like living in the 70s-80s. XMPP is a pretty healthy and active project that is standardized like email and ActivityPub. I would consider XMPP pretty modern, especially considering its features, extensions, etc., as well as the numerous applications it is integrated in.

XMPP is also used in very popular games, consoles, and clients.
