One of my favourite scenes in the 1993 movie “Stalingrad” is Germany soldiers sitting in a ruin, freezing and hungry, listening to the radio to keep themselves occupied.

There is a speech of Hitler where he jokes around and says that Stalingrad is going well and that it won’t be his Verdun. Tells tales of how amazing the Wehrmacht is doing and their glorious battles, all while you can see the ragged soldiers with stone cold faces knowing all too well that this is bullshit.

They are kinda making progress, but slowly and with huge losses. And all they win is a few blocks of more ruins and more dead comrades to bury.

The early war tanks and the Sturmgeschütze (tank hunters) never had these issues, they were a thing in late war where the new tank models came from drawing board to full production and Use within a year, and then there was the whole problem with recourses, iron and coal where not the problem, it was qualified humans and molybdenum that basically fucked the German tanks in later war.

Russias equipment is falling apart from day one.

        Edit: fucking autocorrect!

I watched Enemy At The Gates yesterday and was thinking that there are distinct similarities with what’s happening in Ukraine today.

Again this perpetuation of a myth, it was actually the stupid US general Milley who said ‘Kiev could fall in 72 hours’. Nobody else. But libtards love this stupid myth so much that they can’t stop masturbating to it. Don’t be like libtards.

Far-right palingenetic ultranationalists under a LGBT-persecuting dictator invading a democratic and sovereign country under false pretenses in order to annex its territory, looting its wealth, claiming ethnic superiority, and engaging in ethnic cleansing and massacres?

No, I think I know who the Nazis are.

Everything you’ve written here is accurate, with the exception of ethnic superiority. The current regime has been arguing that the Ukrainian race doesn’t even exist, that they’re just “little” or wayward Russians, which is why one of their genocidal moves is to steal children to try to prevent their demographic decline.

The Nazis would never have stolen Jewish children to make into German citizens after they enacted their Final Solution. Putin intends to swallow Ukraine AND her people, not just clear the land for Russians to move in. The “reeducation” of the stolen children shows that the point is to deny Ukrainians their own culture and heritage and simply claim it all for Russia.

A bit nitpicky, but someone is going to argue that because the actions of the Kremlin isn’t 1:1 with the Nazis that they simply can’t be compared. This is an understandable consideration under the view that the Holocaust was a uniquely systemic and thorough genocide of unprecedented proportions that the Russian attack hasn’t reached, but since the person you’re responding to is implying that the Ukrainians are the real Nazis then I imagine that that is not their viewpoint…

I mean, that is pretty clearly an assertion of ethnic superiority, just not of racial superiority. Though it dips into racism at times as well - bigotry rarely concerns itself with consistency, as with the historical abduction of indigenous children in North America and Australia.

And besides, the Nazis did steal Polish children and attempt to Germanize them. So there’s still that parallel.

You almost make them seem better than they are now.

The National Socialists did this under a leader who knew it was all bullshit. The current leader of the Nazis actually believes his own bullshit.

One Patriot of Ukraine member has claimed the group was behind the seizure and torching of the headquarters of a political party during the US-backed “Maidan” coup in 2014.

Following his release from prison, Biletsky got his chance to carry out a campaign of violence against the ethnic Russians of eastern Ukraine. As war broke out in the country, with the Russian majority of the east seeking self-determination in the face of a nationalist post-coup government viewed as Western puppets,

Try spreading propaganda elsewhere, please. There are neonazis in Ukraine, as there are in most countries - conflating this with Nazis being ‘everywhere’ in a discussion about Russia’s similarities to Nazi Germany in committing ethnic cleansing and potentially literal genocide is nothing but whataboutism and bothsidesism from someone pretending to be an enlightened centrist.

Every country has had neo-Nazis in the last 20 years. Only one of Russia and Ukraine has acted, as a political entity, similar to the actual Third Reich. You are engaging in literally textbook whataboutism.

“Russia, run by a charismatic fascist leader who murders and imprisons his enemies and suppresses minorities, is acting like Nazi Germany by invading another country on thin, false pretenses, and engaging in genocide and other atrocities.”

“Oh yeah? Well, some Nazis live in Ukraine.”

Wagner PMC was a major part of the initial push into Ukraine, Wagner PMC was a de facto arm of the Russian military, just held at arms length for plausible deniability.

Wagner PMC was named such, because Wagner was Hitler’s favorite composer, the founder has literal SS tattoos and has been personally granted half a dozen awards by Putin. Utkin passed the leadership of Wagner over to Yevgeny Prigozhin (who lead the mutiny) in 2016, but is still listed as a commander, and still apparently runs the backend of the mercenary group.

So your response to a Russian state sponsored Nazi military group is to say that there were quasi-nazi militias in Ukraine? Groups that did not in fact have the backing of the Ukrainian government?

Not like the fucking Wagner group, who Putin personally sent to do his dirty work in half a dozen countries. A literal group of convicts and Nazis that Putin has sent to war in exchange for full pardons.

Fuck off with your Russian Nazi propaganda.
