There’s a bit of post-Christmas cheer on the menu for elephants at the Berlin Zoo: they can chomp on Christmas trees that didn’t find a home.
This is the best summary I could come up with:
BERLIN (AP) — There’s a bit of post-Christmas cheer on the menu for elephants and other tenants at the Berlin Zoo: they can chomp on Christmas trees that didn’t find a home.
The tree treats were unwrapped Thursday in what has become an annual event.
Elephants tore off branches with their trunks and either gobbled them or tossed them around their enclosure.
The European bison nestled into the trees before starting to munch on them.
The zoo takes only fresh, unsold trees from select vendors.
It doesn’t accept trees from the public, which could contain chemicals or leftover decorations.
The original article contains 107 words, the summary contains 99 words. Saved 7%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!
I was at the Baltimore Zoo the other day and a bunch of the animals had Christmas trees in their enclosures.
I didn’t see any in the goat petting area, but that’s probably because they swarmed it like a school of piranha
Did I really read this stupid shit? Seriously?
Elephants ate trees that couldn’t find homes?
I’ve never found a homeless tree…
This is so unethical! I can’t believe we are gathering up homeless trees and feeding them to these barbaric animals.
such a privileged life you’ve led.
