Tbh, that’s probably the only casting that would give me any interest in watching a movie about Minecraft.
“Hey you know this game where it’s basically just legos and survival and there’s no story whatsoever? What if we made a live-action movie with people who aren’t legos and wrote a story to it? The fans will obviously love it because it has the same name!”
Tbf the LEGO movie was pretty good. I’m willing to give a minecraft movie a chance, won’t be happy if it’s shit though.
The lego movie was good because it wasn’t about the legos though. It used legos as a medium for telling a really heartfelt story about a father and son.
If they do that with Minecraft, fantastic. I’m just not expecting it in the slightest.
It also used nothing but lego pieces and had overall amazing animation, complete with the limited movement of lego figures accounted for.
True, nothing but lego pieces*
*non-lego pieces that were real-world objects and real human people excluded
Also because a lot of us played with Legos as kids and the movie properly captured the nostalgic feeling of playing with Legos.
There are already people feeling nostalgic for Minecraft, more so by the time this movie comes out.
Sure, and yeah some people are nostalgic for Minecraft, but “The LEGO Movie except it’s Minecraft” is a lousy idea for a movie
It could be cool if they make it like the old D&D cartoon, where a player gets sucked into the game.
Seems like an odd cast, but I’m down to watch Jack Black in basically anything.
Jack Black is actually a good voice actor at least. Better than Chris Pratt again
I’m completely over giving VA jobs to traditional actors.
I think Jack Black can be considered a voice actor and a traditional actor, he has done a lot of good work for both
Team him up with Mark Hamil!
That’s probably fair.
Give him one chance to rock your socks off.
There are very few voice actors who didn’t come up through “traditional” acting.
Especially notable is Bojack which is considered the GOAT and to my knowledge doesn’t feature anyone who hasn’t done theatre, tv or film.
Mel Blanc did TV before he did cartoons
Dan Castellaneta did Second City and character comedy for years before the Simpsons
Tom Kenny was an actor for 10 years before SpongeBob
And so on
the only one I can think of that would meet this description is Seth MacFarlane.
Neat, I guess? That’s not really what’s being discussed here, though.
“Dont give VA jobs to traditional actors”
“Most successful VA actors are traditional actors, here’s some notable examples”
“Not what’s being discussed”
?!?!?!
