Turned my sock heel today, and given how many people we seem to have here who fear trying socks because of the heel this popped into my head.
Shut up it’s been a stressful day and I amuse myself…
I LOL’d 😂 I have my merino fingering yarn chosen for the challenge, I’ll wind it up into a cake this week. Brace yourself… sock knitting is coming
Yesssssss! I hope the yarn also has some nylon or something in it though, not to pick holes in the plan but I’d hate to see you make your first pair only for them to fall apart straight away 🙈
I just checked and it does not 😅 Thanks for the heads up! I’ll just get a more suitable yarn (like I need more excuses for yarn shopping lol). I was planning to use this one I got in Spain, but with no specific plans, I’ll just keep saving it for another project, no worries.
Eep! In that case, very glad I asked! Seriously, not a yarn snobbery thing in any way you just really do need something to reinforce it when it’s getting punished like socks. I made one pair without nylon, only wore them a few times in the house, and BAM! Hole :(
Well, I laughed
I appreciate you.
This was me yesterday!
Lol I hope you got it all sorted out at least
I did! On to the gussets now…
Can someone explain this to me please?
Lots of knitters are scared to try socks, because they think doing the heel looks complicated and difficult. But in reality it’s quite easy, a “small thing” as it were 😄
Now I see what you meant by there was a reason for the floating wip lol!
It was very important work I’m sure you’ll agree 😆
💯. I was thinking about this though, and realized that the reason I was nervous about starting socks is that I felt like I should be. Heels aren’t really as tough as people make them seem. And then they’re done and you get to feel like a wizard.
It is my mission in life to spread this message far and wide.
