What could possibly go wrong having a narcissistic hyper aggressive idiot that wants to dissolve parliament in charge?

He’s taken many too many blows to the head. Listen to interviews with him early in his career and compare them to his interviews now. The level of brain damage he’s endured is pretty obvious.

I was such a fan of McGregor when he just started and went big. Then he crumbled all my respect that was for him when he went garbage towards Khabib.

It’s sad that fame and money goes to one’s head and they think, they’re everything.

Yeah I’ve got nothing but respect for his initial achievements and character. I’m not really an MMA follower but I saw some of his initial fights and interviews.

Not sure what happened since but it’s clearly not good. I wonder if the kind of people you end up being around when you get that rich and famous are part of the problem. I’ll never know so I can only speculate haha.

Honestly, he hasn’t fought much in the last 8 years. His decline is 90% from alcohol and cocaine. His talent and work ethic was incredible during his rise, but after the Mayweather fight in 2017 he couldn’t resist the Scarface lifestyle he had dreamed about. It’s a sad story, not because he’s a good person (he’s not) but because he went from this athletic anomaly to a scared, weak, delusional has-been. Truly a literary tragedy.

Well they’ve had a kind, down-to-earth president for a while. Time to bring in an absolute shithead for a change.

If we’re going to be running minor celebrities for the Irish presidency, the only real choice is Blindboy Boatclub.

I know nothing about Ireland politics. But is it me that’s jaded or this looks like puppet president?

Well, he certainly would be whether he realised it or not - if by that you mean easily manipulated by outside interests (like musk and god knows who else)

I think Musk is another puppet when it comes to X (SpaceX, Tesla and Neuralink not necessarily IMO). It’s interesting how the message of both is “I’ll make world easier by reducing number of people and processes”. And it seems such language gets following

Yeah, they’re all the same. Musk, Trump, crypto, religion, AI - they all offer a simple, easy solution to all problems. It’s false hope, but it’s reassuring and we’re all susceptible to it given the chaos of existence.

Reality is complicated, politics is complicated, running countries is complicated, and no one has all the answers. We have to work on those together. No one person is going to solve all the problems we have, and these cunts absolutely don’t give a fuck about you or me or the ‘working man’.

It works because it’s such an easy sell and it’s easy to fall for it. I have before too. But being good at battering people and choking them out does not by default translate into being able to run a country (maybe thousands of years ago hah).

Thats the other aspect to these things. We tend to mistakenly assume that because a person is good at one thing, they’re automatically going to be good at everything. People like Musk and McGregor are also very good at selling this, because they’re generally talking to people who also have a limited understanding of the topic.

I honestly think if we taught local civics and critical thinking on a global scale you’d massively reduce this kind of problem, but who knows.

President is a largely ceremonial role, the Taoiseach is the head of government and the decision making position.
