“Oh you got one of our machines for cheaper than we sell it? Well, now you have to pay $95 just to use it!”

    Fuck these companies.

Well they could have gone the Tesla route and said you can’t resell it at all. Still a dick move but it could be worse.

While I’ve seen some say that it’s a mechanism to stop scalpers from buying up the things and reselling at a huge margin, I’ve also seen what Tesla’s owner is capable of doing.

Speaking of owner’s and their capabilities; Whistling Diesel is not my favorite guy, but he did a number on the Cybertruck.

Not surprising. They lucked into insane pandemic demand, and kinda didn’t do anything with it. Now they are picking at the corpse of their brand.

That’s excellent. I’m glad I bought a rowing machine with no electronics.

… it’s been six months. It’s still in the box.

Just get a normal bike. If you really need to ride indoors, get a turbo trainer. At least you have a bike you can use in and outdoors.

The official reason why is so that new members “receive the same high-quality onboarding experience Peloton is known for.”

    Also the pride and accomplishment.

We’re past the point where capitalism pretends to be good. This is the stage where it’s revealed to be a people-crushing juggernaut.

The slimy ways in which manufacturers and suppliers force themselves within private transactions of goods have to be stopped.

I wouldn’t be as upset if it produced a message: “Hey, we’ve noticed you’ve just got this used product! Would you like a tune-up, onboarding, warranty etc. for $X00?”, but you can decline and still use it. The fact they disallow resale unless they get a cut is unethical and unreasonable.

Doesn’t also require a $50 subscription in order to actually use that screen and don’t just use it as a generic ultracheap equipment?

What kind of idiot introduces a fee that discourages new users to become subscribers??

Isn’t it better to get a new subscriber that pays every month? Old owner is bored and canceled the subscription already years ago

The fact that it is ”illegal” to modify your own bought product, but not illegal to prevent usable equipment from being sold second hand with no strings attached, is such peak America.
