You need an EPC of at least C I think. Basically things like cavity wall insulation, double glazing.

Problem is… They can announce all they like but there are no installers. I’ve got a deposit with Octopus and even the appointment for the assessment to see if they can fit one is a month away at least*, and if I can the earliest they can install is middle of next year.

    • It’s a fixed price install… very reasonable but it means if they think it’s going to be difficult they just back out. There’s also the risk my house (terrace) isn’t far enough from my neighbours to avoid noise pollution and could be refused on those grounds.

That’s really interesting, thanks. I mean it’s possible that delay is due to manufacturing ramp- up rather than lack of installers, but I think you are probably right.

Shame. I’m in a terrace - I don’t even have cavity walls, let alone insulation.

You can still add internal or external wall insulation. Here’s an example of external wall insulation on a terrace. If it’s not suitable for external insulation, or you don’t want to change the exterior look, internal wall insulation is only a little more expensive. Most cost-effective when the plastering needs redoing anyway, of course. It will take a few inches off your interior space but at least with terraces you only need to do one dimension not both (because your neighbours are insulating you on either side, or at least one side).

Yeh, looked into this. The exterior isn’t really suitable and redoing the interior plastering means ripping out and replacing all the fairly new double glazed sash windows. Not going to happen:(

Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge, though.
